Genius At Work

This morning it was a banana waffle but he only ended up eating a few bites and was not interested in eating anything else. Tuesday is his late day for school but he was ready to get going this morning- standing at the front door yelling "Bye," trying to get his jacket out of the hall closet, pulling at the door leading down to the garage. This was a minor annoyance for Brian as he made bacon and eggs and had planned on eating a leisurely breakfast over coffee and the newspaper.
This morning we had to stop and get gas before doing a couple of errands. I caught Tomas waving and saying"Bye" just as Brian was stepping out of the car.
I had grits this morning from the Waffle House on the corner and they were mighty tasty. I add butter and sugar to them but have been told it isn't the way to eat them. The natives here inform me that butter, cheese, salt and pepper is the only "real" way to eat grits. Oh well.

Last night Tomas was rolling around on our bed before bedtime. He loves to get up there because inevitably there is a cat or two hanging out, trying to avoid him. He would stand up on the bed and then just fall backwards, laughing and bouncing. Tomas thought this was great fun. He was just taking a break when I took this picture.
Today after Gymboree Tomas got a haircut and this usually goes smoothly as long as he can be occupied by a sucker. Afterward we went next door to the grocery store to pick up a few things and also because I didn't have the heart to take the sucker away from him for the car ride home- he most definitely would have pitched an enormous fit. So, we walked around the store and when he was finished he very nicely handed me the stick, we paid for our groceries and left the store without any tears.
Tomas' cousin Holly made this for him when he was born and it has sat nicely on a bookshelf ever since. Within the last month or so though he has become really interested in it and likes to bring it downstairs with him in the morning and then bring it back upstairs at night when it's time for bed. Pictured is the caboose and the letters O, S, A, and T. I'm on the lookout for M.
